Proposed federal grant for basic research in dementia

A few days ago I scribbled a note on piece of paper "... the Canadian federal govt plans to spend 55 million over the next 5 years on research in the field of dementia ".Very encouraging news ,so I checked  the internet and found plans are that as many as  300 scientists will undertake  these research studies over the next 5 years headed by Dr. Carol Greenwood.
My  comments : Very encouraging but just a word of caution. With the findings in recent studies which that showed  Alzheimer's patients (main group of dementia patients) have low levels of Vitamin D it is hoped that these investigators will record  the nutritional status not only of Vit D but also the 50 other essential nutrients that the human adult - and that in their experiments the nutritional status of their 2 groups are similar  and thus meet the gold standard of a randomized double blind study for patient selection.  See my blogs - docsamBlog - on this topic
