A recent Life Extension Update March 05,2013 suggests that adequate levels of Vit D "reduced death from all causes". Other researches have found that residents in nursing homes, especially those with Alzheimer's have low levels of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D). Researchers have also found that exposure of the skin to sunlight for as little as 30 min per day is one way of restoring deficiency in this sunshine hormone .
Earlier Updates and Newsletters from the Life Extension Foundation also suggested that exercise in the form of brisk walking may also reduce the incidence of Alzheimer's.
Maybe its the exposure to sun for that 30 min period and not the exercise which reduces "... death from all causes..." including Alzheimer's by restoring deficiency in vitamin D, a common nutritional deficiency especiallly in the elderly.
