HPA axis dysfunction and Adrenal fatigue

Dr. Lena Edwards in the Jan 2013 issue of Tomorrows Medicine Today newsletter published by A4M (American Academy of Anti Aging Medicine )  discusses  Hypothalamic-pituitary-Adrenal (HPA)axis dysfunction  resulting in adrenal fatigue symptoms
Since some of these symptoms of adrenal fatigue are similar to those associated with sport injuries in which there are head injuries and concussions, could concussions also be a manifestation of dysfunction of the HPA axis?
Anatomically we know that the pituitary gland is buried in a well protected depression of the skull called the  sella turcica  and is not likely to suffer significant physical damage when there are head injuries.    Research in this area might  even help to elucidate the role of free radicals in the pathology of concussions.
