Hydergine use prior to games preventing concussions.

For years I have been fascinated about the pharmacological properties of one of the ergot alkaloids-hydergine- For current and/or the latest details on this drug the reader is referred to The Physicians Guide to Life Extension Drugs published by The Life Extension Foundation of Hollywood Florida
( 1988 edition ). According to the guide hydergine is mainly recommended for the treatment of senile dementia and does not appear to have any side effects even when administered at the higher European dosage (9 mg/day ).
A review of these pharmacological properties suggests to me that if atheletes were to take hydergine prior to their sport games that it might protect them from concussions should they sustain a significant head injury.
This small pocket book guide of 268 pages reviews not only the pharmacological properties of hydergine but 34 other life extension drugs including bromocriptine, deprenyl, DHEA, melatonin, and peracitam to name just a few.
